Metering modes in Camera

Metering mode is a mechanism in which the exposure is calculated. Most of the DSLR and Mirror less Cameras will have metering modes as mentioned below

  1. Matrix or Evaluative Metering
  2. Center Weighted Metering
  3. Spot Metering

Matrix Metering

In this mode, entire frame area is used to calculate the exposure. Use this mode when you are interested in entire image.

Center Weighted Metering mode

In this mode, central area of the image is used to calculate the optimal exposure. Use this mode when you are interested in only central portion of the image.

Spot Metering

In this mode, we can select the specific spot in the image and based on that exposure is calculated. Use this mode when are interested in specific area of the image.
